Founders

FlirtyGirl Productions was founded in 2006 by Andra Serlin Abramson and Elizabeth Encarnacion, two creative editors with more than twenty combined years of experience in the children’s book industry. We FlirtyGirls love what we do, and don’t like to take ourselves too seriously while we’re doing it.

Andra Serlin Abramson spent her formative editorial years vainly searching for the perfect job at many of the major children’s book publishers, including Random House, HarperCollins, Dial Books for Young Readers, and Highlights for Children. Finally settling down in the Philadelphia area, she came on board the new Running Press Kids imprint, where she soon proved to be a creative force with which to be reckoned. Among her countless editorial triumphs was the much-buzzed-about Cathy’s Book by Sean Stewart and Jordan Weisman, which was the first fully-immersive, interactive novel for teens.

Elizabeth Encarnacion honed her skills working on middle-grade and teen books at Simon and Schuster for longer than most people care to stay at one publishing house. She was hired by Running Press to start their new Running Press Kids imprint and not only got the imprint going, but also edited the New York Times Best Illustrated Book Teeth, Tails, and Tentacles by Christopher Wormell. In her spare time, she writes non-fiction books for children and adults, volunteers as a Girl Scout leader, and serves as the communications director for Spells Writing Lab, a non-profit writing center for kids in Philadephia that she helped found.
